PCT day 14 - mile 256 to mile 266 (Big Bear)

"You guys are lucky that my wife left me ten years ago, otherwise non of this would be happening" Kenny.

"I'm a Trump supporter, but I leave it outside the house" Kenny.

Today we walked ten remaining miles to Big Bear to have a NERO day. We waited for Kenny our host for the day, for about an hour as when we arrived at the crossroads he was at the Sunday mass. We both knew Kenny was Donald Trump sider, so we anticipated an American flag outside the house, but what we saw outgrew our wildest expectations. What's even more interesting Kenny turned out to be a genuinely nice person, his rule was to never turn away a hiker, so we have sixteen people sleeping here with us tonight. There's air mattresses set up in every room, Kenny's dogs are running around, washing machine and tumble dryer are working in constant loop. Everything in the fridge without someone's name on it can be consumed, no washing up necessary and the list goes on.

After arriving at his house around midday, we met a trail family consisting of two Swiss, Dutch and a Czech (trail names: On&Off, Lay Flat, Marathon Man and Cowboy). We took a quick shower, got a house tour, after that Kenny took us all to his local restaurant called Kallans, and recommended having a "triple bypass burger" which we did, this monster must have had 3000 calories! When we finished, he picked us up again and drove us to the town centre (seven people his fairly small Hyundai Elantra), on our way there we got spotted by the local sheriff, her car passed right in front of us, Kenny got a bit afraid that he might get fined so we had to duck around the back alleys of Big Bear trying to loose her for about 15 minutes, it was really funny.

Then he dropped us off at the local hiking shop, where we got some of our resupply done, after that we went into town centre to have ice-cream and ended up in a beer garden listening to a live but a bit boring music of a woman turning every song into a mellow ballad. At that point I decided to leave the group as I was the only person planning to get back on trail in the morning. I went to the grocery shop to finish my resupply (and as per usual got too much of it). Then Kenny came over and took me back, I talked to a couple of hikers one of which is doing Triple Crown (three big American hikes: PCT, AT and CDT in one calendar year) I might end up hiking with him tomorrow if I'll manage to keep up the pace. Then I got my surprisingly comfortable air mattress and went to sleep.

Just for the record, I don't care what political option someone supports, as far as they are a decent human being. Political views of my best friends vary dramatically, we just agree to disagree on certaint topics.

It's 4am now, I woke up and I can hear people farting around in surprisingly even intervals. It's like a hikers symphony, sponsored by our questionable diet.
