Glimpses of San Diego
After leaving Los Angeles on the Amtrak train in the morning the plan was fairly simple - get on a tram from the Old Station in San Diego to the El Cajon Transport Center and get a local bus 894 to Campo at 11:45, and it all would be great but I didn't take one thing into consideration, it was Sunday - and local buses to Campo were not running during weekends.. So I packed my bum back into the tram and went back to the city centre looking for somewhere to stay until tomorrow morning. Luckily I found a decent hostel pretty quickly and the first person I've met on site was another PCT hiker, Jasper from Sweden, so tomorrow I will have a company on my first day on PCT which is rather nice, the plan is to hike 20 miles into Lake Morena. San Diego itself feels so much more laid back than LA, it seems like a perfect holiday destination for people who want to just chill out, go to a restaurant, fly a kite, have a barbecue or see a baseball game.
