HPR Resort Kozubnik

Image
visited with: Szk, Luks, r2s and Adam, as a part of sesyjni mordercy crew. History: The construction of the resort started in 1968, within 2 years most of the work has been done. The site was a part of Hutnicze Przedsiębiorstwo Remontowe (HPR) in Katowice, Poland, which employed 18,000 workers. It was located in Porąbka, Beskid Mały in the area of 7.5 ha. It was a self-contained resort, had their own water intake, sewage and emergency power system powered by two 400 kw. tank engines. The resort hired a permanent medical personnel: a physician internist, a dentist, rehabilitation specialist, nurse, thus ensuring full medical protection. Babies Castle

Image
Visited solo just after Lillesden School, and must say that the difference was stunning.. place is in extremely bad condition, looks good from the outside though, and there are few interesting bits in the sheds next to it... Shame, as the place got some interesting history: In 1886, the largest Barnardo's home for orphans under six years old was built in Hawkhurst, and looked after hundreds of babies. It was known as Babies' Castle, and was opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Mary of Teck (who later became Queen Mary, wife of King George V). The nine inspiring principles, known as 'The Nine Nos' of the Babies Castle, were: 1. No destitute child refused 2. No Race Barrier 3. No Creed Clause 4. No Physical Disability 5. No Age Limit 6. No Money Promise 7. No Voting 8. No Waiting 9. No Red Tape Got closed in 1965, then reopened as Hawkurst Castle and remain open until 1990s.

GT Manor

Image
I wanted to visit this location for quite a while, and finally thanks to Keïteï and Subversive Photography managed to do it :) It didn't disappoint, lot's of vivid colours and a bit Mediterranean feeling to it. No problems with access and during the explore on here, St George Tower, has been done later on the same day. info: GT Manor is a grade II listed manor house in Oxfordshire, which is on a large estate along with another two manor houses. One part of the manor is in private residence, the rest remains disused.

Graylingwell Asylum

Image
Some places you are just meant to see too late. Demolition of Graylingwell is lets say 40% done, but unfortunately it has taken the main features, the hall and the projection room. Went there in the middle of the week and perhaps i shouldn't have as it was crawling with workers, so had good time dodging them for most of the time :) Fortunately didn't get caught and managed to see most of what has left. history: Graylingwell Asylum in Chichester, East Sussex was founded in 1894 then finally opened in 1897.  During World War I the hospital closed temporarily and was used as a base by the Military. The patients were evacuated to other southern asylum’s. On return to civilian use plans were put in place for additional buildings to the main hospital. These buildings included an admission hospital which was to be known as Summersdale, a nurses home to be known as Pinewood, a building for female tuberculosis patients and a female convalescent home and also a home for...
