"The best views are at the top of the mountains but the most growth occurs while you are climbing" Survivor. "Do you want a joint?" Oblivious. At 4am in the morning wind got so strong that my tent started to partially fly. It was kind of my fault as I didn't put many stakes in and only used rocks to support it (alright.. I only used one stake, haha). Situation got quite bad so I had to put my head torch on and start to pack everything without it flying off the mountain in almost complete darkness. Luckily everything survived and I learned  a valuable lesson for the future.. Since I was all packed up, I started walking as there was not much else to do.. it was actually quite nice to hike at night, all the PCT sings were glowing when I shone a head torch on them so it was easy to find the way, I will consider doing it more often in the future. The whole path today was going through the biggest wind farm in the USA called Alta Wind Energy Centre which combined inst...

"I don't have any whiskey.. but I do have some vodka" Mosquito Jesus. "Hiking PCT is a mini lifetime and quitting after two weeks seems like abandoning it in it's infancy" Classic. We started walking early today, climbed out of our Blair Witch Project campsite (I quite liked it though) and headed towards Hiker Town. Nugget had an idea to perhaps go back to LA that day to watch the concert of the band she liked, so we pushed some serious tempo. After couple of miles we hit the earliest trail magic on PCT so far, Mosquito Jesus was there with his goodies including doughnuts, crossaints, soft drinks, fruits, beers, pickled gherkins and..a bottle of vodka. We got ourselves a can of beer (drinking before 9am.. profit?), ate few doughnuts and because it was still freezing cold we quickly went back on trail. Weather was really bad, cold, cloudy and windy, frost has set on top of the trees overnight and as it got warmer wind was dropping bits of it along our path, i...

"You guys in Europe do listen to American music, you just six months behind" Nugget. The usual routine today, wake up at 6am, put all the warm clothes on, bag up the sleeping bag and the mattress, get out of the tent. Coookie time! Start disassembling the tent, once everything is folded put it in order inside the backpack. Start hiking, first two hours hands in the pockets because it's cold and I have no gloves.. Around 11am I arrived at the road crossing leading to Green Valley, I didn't really have to buy anything substantial, but I was out of cookies (!) and it seemed like a good idea to stop here for lunch. On the way down the road (catching a hitchhike was unsuccessful this time) I met Nugget, a hiker from Los Angeles and I ended up walking with her all day. She got her trail name from the McDonalds challenge, which was eating only McDonalds (there's one on trail in Cajon Pass at mile 341) for 24 hours, she bought 106 chicken MC nuggets, of which she ate 90. ...
