After hearing  Andrew Kzirian's (from the band  Viza ) track - Illumination it really reflected for me atmosphere of the recently visited abandoned prison, so i made this little video to illustrate it. Pictures and some more info about the place can be found here .

Dairy

Image
Abandoned dairy in the northern Poland, with almost complete machinery and equipment left behind. I really liked the old gas distributor located just outside the complex.

Sheperdswell Train Yard

Image
Site been done many times, least to say it wasn't very challenging to get in as the only gate was wide open, few builders next to it, but completely not interested in what we were doing.. Nobody on site, the only problem was that on the way back the gate was closed, lol.. so we jumped over it without any questions from still present builders.. thank God for builders. Some essential information about the place, can be found here .

Dungeness

Image
"Dungeness is one of the most bizarre places you can visit in Kent. Overlooked by the massive power station, the beach has a strange aura that only adds to its attraction. As with many beaches in Kent it's pebbly, but it's well worth a visit just to soak in the lonely atmosphere, even if you don't fancy a swim. Make sure you take your camera - Dungeness is packed full of potential arty shots." - True, heh. Never got enough of this place.. well until now.

Cement Plant Grodziec

Image
Visited with sesyjni mordecy last year. Really beautiful building. Opened in 1857 it was the first cement plant in the Polish Kingdom, and fifth in the world. Factory was producing portland cement. Jan Ciechanowski was it's original owner, and the first director was eng. Emil Konarzewski, who ran it for 20 years. Stanislaw Ciechanowski, son of Jan, leased and eventually in 1925 sold the plant to the Belgian conglomerate Solvay Cement. The Solvay plant expansion ran until 1939. Cement produced at this plant was used i.e. to fortify Silesia before the war (Obszar Warowny Śląsk). On 31 July 1979 after exploiting coal deposit from underneath the building (which caused damage to the structure), plant has been closed.

St Augustines Hospital

Image
Visited solo at some point in 2011. Opened from 1875 until 1993. It was a psychiatric hospital in Chartham, Kent. It was founded as the second, or East, Kent County Asylum in 1872. In 1948 the hospital became part of the National Health Service and was renamed St Augustine's Hospital. The hospital gained notoriety in the 1970s when it was the subject of a committee of inquiry into malpractice and mismanagement. St Augustine's Hospital closed in 1993 and the site is now occupied by housing, although a few of the original hospital buildings remain. Since my last visit, judging by the recent reports place got even more damaged i.e. piano has got smashed to bits..

West Park Asylum

Image
Place now has been converted into flats, few years ago it was a real gem to visit for British explorers, with loads of items still remaining in wards, great corridors and Chinese security :) We actually got busted by one of them on our way out, no question asked we had to leave.. well we have been leaving anyway. visited with: Vad. Asylum operated from 1923  until 2003. The hospital was designed by William C. Clifford-Smith (architect to the London County Council), who was also involved in the design of nearby St Ebba's Hospital. The hospital had been in planning since 1906, and by 1917 it was largely complete; however, the outbreak of war postponed opening until 1923. When complete the hospital could cater for around 2,000 patients of mixed class, and hence the site had extensive boiler houses and plant rooms, a large laundry and a substantial water tower. There were enormous kitchens located behind the canteen, and in turn this was behind the main hall/ball...
