PCT day 13 - mile 230 to mile 256

"One litre of water per four miles of hiking, and then some for camping. And extra two litres when you're old" Salty.

Since I stayed two miles behind Tom yesterday, I woke up earlier to catch up with him. My shins were feeling fine after the night's rest, but something in the middle of my left foot was hurting instead. I decided to take it slowly again and see if I can 'walk it off'.

I had vivid dreams at night again, but luckily this time they were more tolerable.

I met Tom at mile 132 at 7am, he went in front of me at a higher speed and I was walking behind, we were gaining quite a lot of altitude before the midday. After couple of miles we met Salty and his new trail family at the last water source for the next 16 miles, he looked tired and (un)ironically asked me if the hike was getting easier.

The path after that got surprisingly empty, I came across five hikers for the rest of the day, no one was going opposite direction at all. Path got easy and shaded in the afternoon which helped us doing some decent miles, the stone-stacking method to show the direction was still in place until we finished walking through the flooded area. Highlight of the day was a 'zoo' which only held angry dogs inside, someone wrote "Wasteland" using animal bones right in front of it's fence.. I don't think many people would like to visit zoo like this to be honest.

Plan for tomorrow is to hike remaining 10 miles to town called Big Bear and have a NERO day there. Eat, sleep, shower, do the washing and resupply for another 75 miles in the wilderness. Tom decided to take a ZERO day after that, so tomorrow will be the last day I'll hike with him.

We will be staying at the house of guy called Kenny, apparently other than being a Trump supporter he is a decent guy, but we shall revise that.

The campsite we are staying at is full of 'widow makers' which I thought was the spiders, but Tom explained to me that it's the old damaged trees at the verge of falling down.. so see you tomorrow, hopefully.
