PCT day 38 - mile 789 to mile 803 (Glens Pass)

Skin is peeling off my arms from sunburn I didn't have a shave in a month, last time I had a bath was in a snow water but at least I have a nail clipper and half a toothbrush to keep myself civilized. Only a short day today, but it doesn't mean that it was easy. The last two days were really hard with all the night hiking, elevation gain, going off trail to resupply and challenging passes it looks like my body demands some respite as I was nearly falling asleep while hiking today. I decided to finish walking and set camp at 3pm. With only few miles to Pinchot Pass I can start walking earlier tomorrow and be there in time to go through it. Glens Pass was a bit more demanding and steep than Forester Pass, I had to wear the micro spikes on one occasion on a particularly steep section, but it got easier from there. This section of the trail is covered with lakes and streams, there's a lot of stream crossings and it's impossible to get through it without soaking your feet. I...

PCT day 37 - mile 778 to mile 789 (Forester and Kaersarge Pass, Lone Pine)

"You know when a child wants to steal a candy and the father slaps it over the hand with a ruler? That's what NATO should have done to Russia" Chuck. "I think this country is going down, and China will take over. They are just so much more organized than us" Sofia. Today I went through my first snow covered pass in high Sierras called - Forester Pass and I'm not gonna lie I was quite scared. I started at 5am to be there with the sunrise as this gives the most optimal circumstances to go through it, snow was hard and easy to walk on without post holing or slipping. It took me over two hours at a very slow pace to do it, trail was meandering and dissapering under the snow, following in someone else's footsteps got a new meaning here. After the pass, trail got encapsulated within the mountain range, surroundings got very peaceful and green. Many streams were roaring around, crossing and using the trail as its own path. Snow patches were all around as well, ...

PCT day 36 - mile 766 to mile 778 (Mt Whitney)

"Wherever you go. There you are." [graffiti on the shelter wall on top of Mt Whitney] People were telling me when I said I enjoy the desert section of PCT "just wait until Sierras" and I was just nodding my head. Sure mountains are beautiful but the desert surprised me with its many faces. Then after leaving Kennedy Meadows, Sierras were quite beautiful but nothing outstanding, until today. I wish i could split this day into two separate days, as there was so much to take in. All the way through it I felt simultaneously as I was in Disney movie, on a different planet or that it all just wasn't real. Sadly no amount of pictures or words will be able to describe it fully, but I'll do my best. I woke up forty five minutes past midnight and begun the night ascent of Mount Whitney the highest point on the entire Pacific Crest Trail. It has been timed do reach the summit by the sunrise, many other hikers decided to do the same thing and I could see their torches g...
