PCT day 2 - mile 11 to mile 32

"I told my gal that I will see her on Tuesday, but I didn't tell her which one it's going to be" Salty.

I've been awoken today by the sounds of whispering and rustling, people we've been sharing camp with decided to start packing really early but since it was just half an hour until my alarm would go off I decided to start packing as well. I woke up Tom, and we've been ready to go by 6:30. It was a fairly steep hike to Lake Morena, we managed to arrive there by 11:30, and ordered 'breakfast' which for me was a burger with chips and coffee.

That's where the day got interesting, after ordering coffee latte, I couldn't find a button for it in self service machine, so I went for mocha instead. Mocha turned out to be a white coffee with cinnamon. In the meantime one of the other hikers offered if someone wants to finish their toast, I said sure I'll eat it, the toast has been sprinkled with cinnamon.. at this point I started to complain that since I arrived to America everywhere I go cinnamon seems to follow me, I've eaten cinnamon pop tarts, smelled it in various places in Los Angeles and on the bus station in El Cajon. Someone suggested at this point that maybe my trail name (the special nickname you get when you hike in America) should be Cinnamon - and I quite liked it, so I decided to stick with it :)

We met lots of Europeans today, mainly Germans and English, but also a Dutch. A Canadian girl, couple of Koreans, and of course plenty of Americans, some of them with trail names from previous adventures: Big Sky, Cucumber, others new to long distance hiking.

We ended up walking to the campsite called Cibbets Flat Campground on mile 32, where we've been greeted with a pleasant surprise, trail angels rented a field, so we didn't have to pay $14 to stay.

It's been another hot, mostly cloudless day, temperature seemed to be a bit lower than yesterday though. I have no problems with pains or aches so far which the most important thing at this point of the trail.

It's been a long, productive day.

My attempt to talk about today in a video: BED Talk
