Los Angeles - Griffith Observatory and The Getty Center
Today was a pretty straight forward, I visited two of the landmarks of LA, Getty Museum and Griffith Observatory. I decided to buy very affordable day pass for Metro (3.5$) which made those not easiest to reach destinations accessible.
First I went on the Purple and Red Line to North Hollywood and then walked for an hour through Griffith park to reach the Observatory, it was very enjoyable little hike uphill.
Then I went down on the Red line to the Union Station to buy my ticket to San Diego for tomorrow morning (44$), from there I went back to my starting point on the Purple line and finally sorted out my American phone number which should aid my GPS in times of need, I went for T Mobile's cheapest prepaid option (still it was 27$ though).
After I've sorted all of that, I've alternated between two busses to reach Getty Museum which among the paintings of Goya, Rembrandt, El Greco, Rubens and Degas has some of the best views in town as well, and all of that for free! Great little place and we'll worth an hour and a half trip from the city centre.
It was my final day in LA but I feel like I used my three days well and got to see all I wanted to. I'm burning through way too much money at the moment so I've decided to skip the day exploring San Diego and hit the trail tomorrow. It will be quite a transportational cluster fuck as I will have to catch a Metro to Union Station in the morning, then hope 3 hour train to San Diego won't have any delays, jump on the local tram to El Cajon transportation centre once I'm there and then a local buss 894 to Campo. All of these have about 15-25 minutes delay margins so if anything slows down the plan collapses, but fingers crossed it won't.
This also means that I won't be meeting Emma for a coffee which is a shame, she just wrote to me that they indeed will be in San Diego tomorrow. I just have to start moving though, hopefully post office will be still open in Campo once I get there, as making the backpack tad lighter before hitting the trail would be quite welcome, haha.
It was a good day.
