Image
Somehow magically date set up by GhOsT and Happyshoper to come and visit Battersea Power Station coincided with my birthday, i couldn't refuse and joined in :) Six people strong we did Eagle House, then five of us Battersea and only me and Katie were crazy enough to try on Barking Power Station.. Crew consisted of: myself, Subversive Photography ,  GhOsT , Happyshoper  and our guides:  Keïteï and   OliverGT . Good times, big shout to all, it has to be repeated at some point. stop number 1,  Eagle House . 26 storey skyscraper in Hackney. stop number 2,  Battersea Power Station . One of the most iconic landmarks in London, it compromises two individual power stations build in two stages in the form of a single building - Power Station A (1930s) and Power Station B (1950s) decommissioned in 1983. stop number 3,  Barking Power Station . Jameah Islamiyah School

Image
This is what's happening when you cannot find the place, going to the pub and asking locals where it might be.. then realizing on arrival (or slightly later on) that it is a completely different place. visited with: Keïteï and Subversive Photography. history: built in 19th century grade ii listed building, consisting of 3 main parts: former orphanage, later girls school; a chapel and the convent accommodation. Some recent affairs lead to it's closure few years ago. This is certainly on top of my weirdest explores to date, with the strange builders, squatters and items found on site.

Wann das Kind Kind War

Since coming back from Pripyat i found it hard to explore anything. Chernobyl and it's surroundings imprinted some strange emotions on me and posting only the pictures was simply not enough to show what i am really thinking about this place. Just before Christmas i decided to make a slideshow, similar to the one where i portrayed Lillesden School , but go a bit further this time, move the images a little bit and (perhaps) try to tell a story. Browsing the internet for the right soundscape begun, and it didn't take me long to find myself on soundcloud, few ambient tracks later i found it. Perfect mood, with a voice-over telling about how it was to be a child, i didn't think long and contacted David, or if you like The Oxford Ambient Collective , and the mysterious voice, Sabine or rain_and _sun. Both of them gave me a positive reply within few hours, and so our cooperation begun. Few weeks passed and here it is, inspired by the Wim Wender's Wings of Desire in the...

Under Dover II

Image
Dover has definitely a lot to offer, this time we managed to visit three locations, but because my light-painting skills are still not sufficient i will only post few pictures.. return visit is near. Grand Shaft This historical monument was used to get soldiers from the top to the bottom of the White Cliffs of Dover during a crisis. Therefore, a set of three intertwined spiral staircases were built for easy access. St. Martins Deep Shelter St Martins Battery was constructed in the 1870's and was updated at the beginning of the Second World War, part of this included extending the already present Battery Magazine into a deep underground shelter, It has suffered smoke damage and several collapses. First shelter i ever been to, shame that not much left inside. This one was taken just outside the shelter, on the previous trip: More locations in Dover to come.
