Boston

Three days in Boston.

After finishing the trail I've decided to spend few days in in four big cities along the east coast to get some regular tourist point of view not just Appalachian Trail perspective on this side of US, which to be fair I really enjoyed.

First city on my list was Boston in Massachusets, I've stayed in Boston Homestel located in Dorchester area of the city which was also partially a Polish neighborhood, I've even found a church dedicated to Black Madonna from Częstochowa, my hometown! I decided to attend a Polish mass here as well, since it was weekend and it was quite an interesting experience.

On my first day I've walked the length of the Freedom Trail, winding across many of the cities historical landmarks, it gave me a great overlook of the city. Many old houses and offices were scattered between skyscrapers most notably the Old State House. The trail ended with tall Freedom Tower, 294 steps of which tourist were allowed to climb and see a wonderful skyline of the city.

On the second day I've visited Boston's Public Library, it looked really good with it's Renaissance style architecture. It had many different compartments, children's library, restaurant, gift shop and a garden people could hide from during this hot day. I've visited Haymarket afterwards, a busy street fruit and vegetable market where sellers were shouting and bargaining all the time, I quite liked the vibe of this place and bought here a punnet of strawberries (1$), blueberries (2$) and an avocado (1$). Afterwards I went to a historical Faneuil Hall Marketplace where I've wondered between food halls and looked what was being popular with customers.

Last day I've spent mostly wandering around the town around the riverfront, it was Monday and few of the attractions I wanted to visit were closed but I managed to visit the Harvard University, well at least it's famous campus with the John Harvard statue in the yard.

I ate a very nice breakfast burrito in Pressed Cafe and ended up going to the huge AMC Boston Common 19 Cinema, my movie of choice was a secret screening of yet unreleased horror that costed only 7$ and was very popular with the cinema goers. Movie turned out to be The Home, a mystery horror taking place in an elderly home, it was quite average but it had some good moments and unintentionally funny scenes.

After the film has ended I went to the bus station and waited until 1:30 AM for my overnight Greyhound to Washington.
