Appalachian Trail (day 30) - Pearisburg to Potts Mountain / mile 666
Good day of pushing miles and some nice views.
It was heavily raining all night but there was no wind which meant that it was actually not disturbing my sleep. Overall I had a good night, the tent didn't - it was all caked in mud and I had to dry it later on during my lunch break.
Trail was running along the ridge for most of the day revealing very picturesque valley when passing through sections without the trees and there was few of them.
Once it stopped raining in the morning the weather was great and it stayed that way. In the afternoon I've met Lucky Seven, he was going south for the last two months, once he arrived in Georgia he was planning to join the rest Northbounders, he was doing what hikers would call "flip flopping". He told me that norovirus is a number one topic ahead on the trail.
I've arrived at the campsite at 6 PM and met here Jack Rabbit, he was waiting for his friend to come. It was his first long distance path but he did some hiking before in New Zealand. He walked the Tongariro Crossing which was a part of Te Araroa. He was really enjoying himself on AT so far and said that if his hike is successful he might try the other long distance routes as well.
I've ate the ramen bomb with SPAM and some beef jerky and went to bed early as I was planning another long day tomorrow.
