South Downs Way

Thought of the day: why do birds always have the most extraordinary tales to tell?

Day 1 of my SDW hike, walked from Winchester to Coombe about 15 miles in total, was initially hoping for 18, then downgraded during the day to 12 which is where Exton is and officially recommended day 1 hike ends (for 8 days itinerary). I had a late start, I walked from noon because I took national express bus rather than train which cost me £15 rather than £75 on train, I swap three less hours of walking for £60 anytime. And, here I am alone in the campsite I found last minute on google. It's going to be cold tonight 3-4°C which should be a nice test for the sleeping pad I brought for the PCT.

The trail looks very pretty so far, nice and quiet English countryside, rivers flowing gently, daffodils blooming all around and birds are in song mode again. There are a lot of geese on the campsite and I already got hissed on by a couple, very territorial bastards.

Its been a good day.
